THE BARDOC BURGLARY


From the Broad Arrow Standard 16 Oct 1897

The Exchange Hotel
This 16 room hotel was opened by Mr Keane in 1896. It was destroyed by fire on the 18th April 1898
The first Roman Catholice service was held in the hotel on the 24 May 1896 by Rev D M Deasy

 

The Miners Arms Hotel
The first Wine and Beer Saloon was opened on the 18th April 1896 by Mr W H Pont. The modest 'Longsleever' cost 9d, a circumstance that a large crowd was not long in availing itself of. The saloon was to become the 'Miners Arms Hotel'
